Michael Hartvigsen

Michael Hartvigsen has a BS in civil engineering from Brigham Young University. With more than eight years of experience in water and wastewater engineering with the U.S. Forest Service and Epic, he has designed and managed the construction of culinary, secondary, and wastewater pipelines and facilities. Michael is an active member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and currently serves on the Young Professionals Committee within the organization. He is also a certified water operator in the state of Utah.

With his expertise and professional experience in water management, Michael has administered numerous water rights studies throughout the state of Utah. His professional experience also includes the following projects:

  • Multiple concrete tank designs, including a 500,000-gallon water tank with a 10-inch well for the North Fork Special Service District.
  • Multiple pump station designs, including a dual 3,000-gpm culinary water and 2,500-gpm secondary water booster pump station for the Magna Water District.
  • Major transmission and distribution pipelines
  • Office building construction management, including the Magna Water District Wastewater Treatment Plant Admin Building
  • Design of a 40-CFS irrigation canal diversion structure for the Lake Creek Irrigation Company

Outside of his work as a civil engineer, Michael enjoys hunting and spending time outdoors. His love of nature cultivates his appreciation for sustainability and an understanding of the importance of our natural resources – essential traits for responsible civil engineers.
