Epic Engineering’s Structural Engineering team designed and engineered custom racking for Synergy Power. Our custom racking is placed 18” off of the roof structure, and is sloped to support three rows of solar panels in the landscape orientation. The racking was designed to be capable of resisting wind and snow loading. The custom racking plans were drawn conforming to DFCM (Division of Facilities and Construction Management) for the State of Utah and were reviewed and approved.

The specifications for this solar racking called for wind loading with 150 mph exposure C, which created large overturning forces for the racking. A frame model was developed in SAP modeling software to check for deflection, drift and localized stresses in the frame joints.
