Construction Management

By providing services to municipal entities over the years, Epic Engineering has been able to strengthen our skills in the management, inspection and quality control of construction projects.
This experience has allowed Epic Engineering to better understand the importance of making sure that infrastructure is installed properly as eventually those improvements become the property of the Owner.
Epic Engineering has developed a very skilled and qualified construction management crew.  Three different municipalities use our crews on a full-time basis to meet various development and construction related needs.
Our construction management experience has led us to develop a plan that reduces construction conflicts and assists in developing good communication between the owner and contractor.  This plan includes construction meetings, continued schedule coordination, cut sheet review, and detailed field notes.

Construction Meetings

Well-prepared construction meetings attended by proper personnel allows projects to proceed smoothly, benefiting all parties involved.  Each project is commenced in the right direction with a pre-construction meeting that clarifies the owner’s expectations and requirements.
This is followed by weekly progress meetings attended by the construction manager, inspector, and proper representatives of the owner, developer, general contractor and any sub-contractors that will perform work within the following week of construction.  The short period of time spent in this meeting each week has proven to save numerous hours in the field resolving miscommunications.

Schedule Coordination

Verification of contractors’ scheduling allows Epic Engineering to provide the best services to the owner by ensuring that the proper amount of inspection is scheduled to meet the progress of the project.
It is crucial to understand the domino effect of any delays of the schedule.

Detailed Field Records

Accurate and detailed field records are significant not only to assist in future maintenance but to ensure that the owner is always protected when determining bond releases and that all the infrastructure is properly completed prior to final acceptance.

Bonding Creation, Releases, and Management

Renewal of engineers’ estimates and accurate bonding of required infrastructure is critical to protecting the interests of the owner.  We verify at each bond release that the actual improvements have been completed.  Additionally, keeping track of improvements during the warranty period is a critical step in protecting the owner’s interests.
Our construction management team is comprised of individuals experienced and skilled to assist when more services are required.  Epic Engineering also provides material testing and quality control services.
