Environmental Services

We offer professional, licensed environmental engineering and planning services that benefit individuals, communities, and the environment.  We are proud members of the U.S. Green Building Council, helping to promote sound environmental building practices and principles.

Wetland Delineation and Permitting

New growth and development often requires assessment of the hydrology and wetlands within the project site, as well as working closely with the Army Corps of Engineers to obtain any necessary permits prior to development of the site.  Certified under the Army Corps of Engineer (ACOE) Wetland Delineation & Management Training Program, we provide accurate, detailed, wetland delineations that adhere to ACOE standards and guidelines, including the ACOE 1987 Manual and the Arid West Region Interim Regional Supplement to the Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual.  Delineation reports, detailed mapping of the site and field work are streamlined for coordination with the ACOE.

 Environmental Permitting

We understand that close relationships with the state of Utah and federal regulatory agencies are important for expediting the permitting process for any type of project.  Through our work on projects involving the permitting of water, sanitary sewer, wetland, irrigation, and storm water facilities and others, Epic Engineering has developed an excellent rapport with the state of Utah and federal permitting agencies.
We have experience working with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Army Corps of Engineers, UDOT, Fish and Wildlife, as well as other local, state, federal and tribal regulatory agencies.
Epic Engineering strictly adheres to regulatory practices to ensure environmentally, culturally, and biologically acceptable activities in all aspects of the project.  It is critical to identify all affected agencies and establish coordination requirements early on in the project to ensure the timely completion of permits and agreements.

LEED Compliance

The U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program is the benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings and sustainable development practices.  Whether considering new construction or retrofit of existing buildings, LEED will provide recognizable, immediate and measurable impacts in the following categories: sustainable site development, water savings, energy savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
Our LEED accredited professional (LEED AP) can provide clients with the knowledge they need throughout the site selection, design, and construction process.

Groundwater Modeling

Often understanding what is happening on your site isn’t enough.  Groundwater modeling can determine what is under a site, where it came from and where it is going.  From well field optimization to contaminate transport modeling or multi-phase analyses, we have experienced groundwater modeling staff to assist.  We are skilled at building, calibrating, and analyzing complex models and summarizing the results in a concise, comprehensible format for environmental analyses, drinking water source protection plans, and many other applications.

NEPA Compliance

More often, federally funded projects require compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).  At Epic Engineering we can provide NEPA analysis and documentation including EAs, EISs and Categorical Exclusions, as well as organize and facilitate effective meetings between federal, state, tribal, and local land management agencies and other key stakeholders.  We are skilled at determining a project’s potential impacts on the environment including wetlands, floodplains, air quality, prime and unique farmland, endangered species, and other environmental constraints.

Environmental Site Assessments

Epic Engineering can provide you with Phase I or Phase II Environmental Site Assessment required to meet CERCLA objectives or simply to meet conditions of sale of property.  We are skilled in identifying environmental conditions connected to property and can perform environmental site assessments in accordance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard E 1527-13 and the EPA’s Final Rule 40 CFR Part 312.

Underground Tank Consultants

The EPA requires consultants to be certified to  oversee the  installation, inspection and removal of Underground Storage Tanks.  Our staff has the experience to aide in the design of new facilities as well as planning the removal of existing tanks.

Contamination Determination & Delineation

The After a release is discovered, generating a detailed understanding of the problem is critical to minimizing the future risk and associated costs.  Our staff are skilled at generating detailed and flexible work plans to gather basic data quickly and efficiently.
Using basic principles of groundwater flow and contaminate transport modeling, a preliminary understanding of the size, shape, and nature of the release can be established to guide future decisions.  Through an early understanding of the problem extent, reasonable and attainable goals can be established avoiding unnecessary delays and expenses.
